The comedian George Lopez, whose "Lopez Tonight" began on TBS this week, is the latest host to break up what Jay Leno likes to call "the parade of nine white men" on the late-night talk shows. Wanda Sykes, an African-American comic, launched her own talk show last week.

The history of late night hosts is mostly masculine and monochrome, but there have been some notable exceptions.
