Two of Bollywood's biggest stars, Abhishek Bachchan, 30, and former Miss World Aishwarya Rai, 33, finally got engaged after months of feverish speculation across India, their families said.
The couple had previously denied anything other than a healthy friendship. "No date for marriage has been fixed yet," Bachchan's father, Amitabh, said, adding that his son had proposed in New York last week following the premiere of the couple's latest film, Guru.
Rai, crowned Miss World in 1994, and Bachchan have starred in more than 40 films each; five of them as co-stars.
