Before they are allowed to take pictures inside the detention camps at Guantánamo Bay, Cuba, photographers must consent to have all their photos reviewed by military public affairs officials.
Pictures of detainees’ faces are forbidden, as are any images that capture unoccupied guard towers or large patches of the coastline.
At the end of each day, a member of the public affairs staff sits down with each photographer and reviews each photo. Those that violate the rules are deleted.
