The global financial crisis largely began in the US, and the country is now taking steps to cut spending in order to balance its budget.
The US congress has voted to cut funds for many a social-assistance programmes for Americans.
It is a bad news for more than 45 million Americans, who rely on a government subsidy called food stamps.
