A number of policy changes will come into force in the new year while some changes slip through under-discussed.

From 1 January 2014, all restrictions on Bulgarians and Romanians seeking work in the UK will be lifted. British labour markets will be open to Romanian and Bulgarian nationals the same as they are to people from the rest of the EU. In recent weeks, the British government has made a series of changes to its welfare system including temporarily preventing Bulgarians and Romanians from receiving student loans.
