JERUSALEM (CNN) -- Israeli forces killed eight militants during clashes in central Gaza on Thursday, Palestinian medical sources said.
A cameraman for Hamas' Al Aqsa TV was shot and injured in the clashes, according to Palestinian medical and Hamas sources.
During the operation, Israeli aircraft fired on armed militants who approached the troops, the Israeli millitary sources said.
In two other instances, militants and Israeli forces exchanged fire.
Israeli military sources said Israel Defense Forces entered central Gaza in an operation targeting tunnels and rocket-launch sites used by Palestinian militants.
