Boy George is accused of falsely imprisoning a male escort.

The 47-year-old singer and DJ, whose real name is George O'Dowd, was due to appear at Thames magistrates after being charged and bailed earlier this month, the UK's Press Association reported.

It followed an incident at his apartment in east London on April 28 of this year, the agency added.

The star -- whose hits include "Karma Chameleon" and "Do You Really Want To Hurt Me?" -- quit Culture Club in 1987 and embarked on a short solo career before reinventing himself as a club DJ and launching a fashion label, B-Rude. E-mail to a friend E-mail to a friend
