Attacks on Afghan schools soar

At least 700 schools have closed due to conflict and more than 3.7 million children are currently out of school.

Nearly half of Afghanistan‘s school-age children are out of school and hundreds of institutions have closed because of the war with the Taliban and the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL or ISIS).

This is hampering efforts to improve education, in a country with one of the worst literacy rates in the world.
