African Authorities Accused of Brutality in COVID-19 Lockdown

Police around the continent have reportedly been accused of violating civilians' rights in effecting lockdown and curfew rules aimed at curbing spread of the deadly coronavirus. Arrests, shootings and use of teargas have been reported as measures taken by police to force citizens comply with regulations. At least six people have reportedly died from police violence during the first 10 days of Kenya's dusk-to-dawn curfew, imposed on March 27.
