Sudan recognises Christmas as an official holiday
Christmas in Sudan has been recognised as an official holiday for the first time since 2011.
Public celebrations had been stopped by ousted President Omar al-Bashir after the secession of Christian-majority South Sudan.
Sudan’s transitional government says it wants to promote religious equality.
