The Icelandic volcano spreading ash and forcing airport closures across the UK is just one of a number of active volcanos with very recent actvity. See where the others are

It may be in Iceland, but the Eyjaföll volcano is causing widespread disruption across the UK.

Thanks to volcanic ash monitoring centres like this one at the Met Office, we get a good picture of the spread of the cloud.

Meanwhile, volcanos are erupting all over the world, all the time. The best source is the Global Volcanism Program, which compiles a rolling tally of volcanic activity across the globe.
